Volleyball communication should be early, clear, and useful. Say “mine” as soon as you know you can take the ball. That gives teammates time to move away or prepare for the next touch. If you cannot reach it, call for help or use a teammate's name when your group uses names.

After a pass, a short call such as “free” or “outside” can help the next player understand the situation. One clear word is usually better than a stream of instructions during a rally.

Use the space between points to confirm serve receive, rotation, or coverage. Keep feedback specific and respectful: “I will take the short ball” is easier to act on than “communicate more.” When every player calls the ball, beginners learn faster and the court becomes safer.
