Good passing is less about swinging your arms and more about a stable platform. Join your hands in a comfortable grip, straighten your elbows, and make one broad forearm surface. The exact grip can vary; the goal is firm, predictable contact away from wrists and elbows.
Move your feet before you pass. Small shuffle steps help put your body behind the ball, where you can angle the platform toward a target and use your legs to lift it. On a hard serve, very little arm motion may be needed.
Practice with a partner and aim each ball toward the same area near the net. Count playable passes rather than perfect-looking ones. A consistent first contact gives the setter choices and makes the whole rally easier.
