Safe Landing Basics for Indoor Volleyball

Simple landing habits that help indoor volleyball players practice jumping with more control and awareness of shared court space.

Jumping is part of indoor volleyball, but landing well deserves equal attention. Aim to land with balance, using both feet when the play allows it and bending knees and hips to absorb force. A controlled landing should leave you ready to move again rather than locked upright or collapsing forward.

Notice teammates and opponents near the net before you jump. Crossing into another player's landing space creates risk even when nobody intends contact. Communicate and give others room.

If you are returning to volleyball, increase jump volume gradually instead of beginning with a long session of maximal effort. Sharp pain, swelling, instability, or pain that persists deserves attention from a qualified health professional; an article cannot diagnose an injury.
